A mission unlike any other
The largest invasion in history was about to begin, but before it could start,
something needed to be done. Something that would take a special group of individuals.
A different kind of soldier...
The Pathfinders were the first to parachute into enemy occupied Normandy. Outnumbered, unsupported,
and racing against the clock, the heroes of this mission overcame insurmountable odds, and lit the path to victory on the greatest
American invasion of World War II.
30 minutes before the invasion, a small volunteer group of American paratroopers dropped
behind enemy lines, completely alone, with a single mission. If they failed in this mission,
the invasion would have been nearly impossible. Who were these men? What was their mission?
How did they do it with the knowledge that the invasion would most likely be called off anyway?
If that happened, they would be stranded there alone, surrounded by the enemy and left to die.
How did a group of complete strangers, men from different units, men that didn’t even know each other, work together as a professional team? How could a small group of volunteers
succeed against these circumstances and do it with a group of complete strangers?
Their top secret mission was vital to the success of the entire D-Day invasion. Failure to complete the mission meant the
lives of thousands, and it was up to these men to pull it off.
